Relation + Connexion

I’ve started a new series!! As you may have noticed by now, I tend to go through phases. The longer this blog is alive, the more categories will appear on the sidebar – I like to keep it fresh.

This new series is titled “Relation + Connexion“. So there’s a physical connection, a relation between one and another, but there’s more to it (it goes deeper than skin)! I already have a lot of ideas and drafts in progressΒ for this series that have a little less to do with physical contact. But for the kickoff, yes, they will mostly be focused on the physical side. Prepare yourselves. Love is in the air. πŸ˜‰

I’ll be reposting theseΒ later (full size), along with the rest of the sketches that I’ve been working on, but here is a little sneak peak of the first four that got me started:

Hold My HandNever Let Me GoEnd Of The NightPalm to Palm

So this is the beginning of another journey! I’m excited to share my drawings with you as they come to me. I’ve received so many notes of encouragement and I just have to put out a big “THANK YOU” to all my loving and supportive family and friends!! I love you all so much and appreciate all you have to offer and say! Your lives are an inspiration to me and my art: you keep me growing whether it’s in your critique or your compliments. πŸ™‚

I do believe I am happy with this new start…

Where Is The Hip Hop?

β€œAnd those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”

-Nietzsche

This one is inspired by the hip-hop dancers, who I have aways greatly admired. So I LOVE ballet, and always have. I think hip-hop/street dancers combine that passion and a lot of the same moves but in a modern and free-spirited way, which is more my style. There is a perfection to ballet, and in it is beauty. But with hip-hop there’s so much freedom of movement and passion involved! I know both sides can be played as better, but for this sketch, I took the inspiration from the street-dancers. This girl is in baggy jeans and sneakers:

Hip Hop

A whirlwind of movement.

I do believe I am happy with this one.

A New Beginning

Alright we’re back in business!

I’ve decided I’ve had enough with the skeletons – at least for a little while. As I’ve developed my yoga practice and have focused more on fitness, I’ve rediscovered my love for dancing. I spent a few nights gathering inspirational photos for my next series, which will be dance/workout inspired.

I’m sticking with my imperfect sketchy quality – the darker and messier the better, in my opinion. This one here is not the first one I did, but it’s one of my favorites from the couple that I’ve been working on over the past few days. It is untitled as of now:

BackbentAlmost ballet-like in poise, but with the strength of a yogi, I love the grace and grit of it all. πŸ™‚ Oh and as an aside, I have a lot of trouble with hands (real ones, with skin) so these may have an odd look about them. Hopefully I will get better with practice!

The next few are very similar so if you like this one, get excited! If it’s not your thing, I’m sorry, bear with me until this phase passes.

I do believe I am very, very happy with this new venture!!
